Members of the 2005 Kanatek Expedition raised over $150,000 to build a school in memory of Dr. Sean Egan who lost his life attempting to become the oldest Canadian to climb Mt. Everest. The Green Tara school is located just outside of the Child Haven orphanage near Kathmandu.
A School in Honour of Sean
After the passing of Dr. Egan on Mt. Everest, member of the 2005 Kanatek expedition formed an organization called Ad Astra. The team raised over $200K to build a school in honour of Sean. Today, over 200 children have access to education as a result.
